5 Reasons why you should visit Fenway Park in Boston (as a non MLB Fan)

Fenway Park

You don’t have to be an absolut Baseball or MLB fan to enjoy a game at Fenway park, which is the home of the Boston Red Sox. Here I will give you 5 reasons why you (as a non Baseball fan) should consider visiting this iconic ballpark.

  1. Historical Significance:

You don’t have to be a historic to enjoy history. However, if you are a historic crack you will absolutely appreciate this ballpark. Bonus points if you are a sports fan too. Fenway Park is one of the oldest ballparks in the United States. It opened in 1912, when the first game was ever played. 1912 was also the date when the Titanic sunk. This means the park’s inaugural game was overshadowed by the sinking of the Titanic which grabbed all the headlines. Then there’s the Pesky Pole in right field, named after Johnny Pesky, who hit all of 17 home runs in his career. Talk about irony! The park has witnessed countless historic moments, not just in baseball but in American culture. When you visit Fenway Park is feels like you are hopping into a Time Machine. It’s not just a ballpark, we think it feels more like a living museum.

  2. Green Monster

Fenway Park has one iconic feature. And when I say iconic I really mean a legend. You see it in merch, you read about it in the media and you definitely hear about it when you visit a game, the Green Monster! The Green Monster is not an actual monster (maybe it is), it is a 37-foot tall big wall in the left field. Hitting a home run over it is a baseball players dream. I don’t know how it came to the green wall, someone must have said “Let’s make hitting a home run in the left field as hard as solving a math equation.” The scoreboards are manual still to this day and they are operated by humans, because who need technology when you can have charm? In the world of baseball, the Green Monster is part celebrity, part nemesis and entirely Boston.

  3. Cultural Experience

If you want to experience Boston and its culture you won’t miss a sports game. Sports and Boston go hand in hand. Boston fans are know for their passion and loyalty to their teams. Visiting Fenway Park for the first time is special. Hear the chants and the roar of the crowd, they make you feel like you belong there. It’s not just about watching a baseball game, it’s about experiencing it. Imagine being part of this amazing atmosphere. The moment you step in, you’re hit with a symphony of Boston accents and the buzz of excited fans. Get ready to sing “Sweet Caroline” as loud as possible and bond with a stranger to create an unforgettable experience.

  4. Guided Tours of Fenway Park

If you are not the type to watch a live sports game or visit Boston in the off-season, we still recommend you booking a tour through the park. The guided tours of Fenway Park are an adventure in themselves. You explore secret spots, enjoy the Green Monster seats, hear stories that make the walls talk and if you’re lucky, you might event sit in the oldest seat in Major League Baseball.

  5. Neighborhood and Food

The area around Fenway Park is vibrant and full of history. There are numerous restaurants and bars where you can sample local Boston cuisine. From New England clam chowder to some of the best international cuisines, Kenmore Square is a foodie’s paradise. Plus the local bars? There are several with a story about the Red Sox.
