Introduction to the Guinness Storehouse Tour

Guiness is probably one of the most iconic brands in the world. Its distinct character, beloved by many, yet an acquired taste for some, cements its status as a global icon. It's this polarizing allure that places the Guinness Storehouse at the top of Dublin's must-visit destinations, drawing over 1.5 million curious tourists annually. The Guinness factory tour isn't just an exploration, it’s much more. Learn about the history and brewing process of Guinness in an immersive experience. The Guinness tour offers a blend of educational and sensory experiences, showcasing the rich heritage and craftsmanship that have made Guinness a global phenomenon.

Location and best time to visit

The Guinness Storehouse is located in the heart of Dublin. If you need detailed directions you can find them on the official Guinness website. We decided to walk from the centre area which took us 20-30 minutes to reach the Guinness Storehouse. You can also take the public transport e.g. bus or take a taxi. There are a number of accessible parking spaces available close to the entrance, if you are traveling by car.

We recommend to schedule a visit on weekdays, since those usually are quieter and less busy. We went on Wednesday between 10 am and 12 noon and recommend you to go on the same time, since you can easier access lifts and facilities this way. We also recommend you booking your visit beforehand online on the official Guinness website where you can choose your ideal experience.

Guinness Storehouse Experiences & Prices

There are different experiences you can book which vary in prices. You can chose between standard and premium experiences. Every standard experience includes access to the tour (self-guided), entry to Guinness tasting rooms, entry to the Gravity bar and a pint of Guinness (or a non-alcoholic drink). We opted for the standard experience and can’t talk about the premium experiences.

Prices

Standard Experience = €20.00

Guinness Academy Experience = €32.00

Stoutie Experience = €28.00

Connoisseur Experience = €95.00

The Guinness factory tour

Alright, we won’t get into the history book of Guinness today, that’s for you to discover at the Guinness Storehouse. Instead, we’ve got a sneak peek of the magical 7-floor journey awaiting you at the Guinness Museum. Ready? Let’s hop in!

Ground floor: Boom! You’re in the Guinness world. Find the legendary lease signed by Arthur Guinness in 1759 and start to learn about the history of Guinness as well as the ingredients. In the first floor everything is about Arthur Guinness, founder and creator of Guinness. Dive into the life of the man, the myth, the legend “Mr. Guinness” himself. Dreams, life snippets and secrets await.

The next stop is the second floor, where the tasting experience started. We don’t want to talk more about the second floor since it truly was an experience you have to see for yourself, so let’s keep it mysterious. Trust us, it’s a must see (or must taste) experience!

In the third floor you enter the advertising world of Guinness. It's a whirlwind of fun ads from yesteryears. This floor's a blast from the past but with a fun twist. The whole floor is filled with campaigns run by Guinness over the last years.

Now we are going up and arrive on the fourth floor. Here’s where your ticket spices things up. Pouring your own pint? If you booked the Guinness Academy experience, now is the time to do it. If you opted for the Stoutie Experience, then you will now get your face on a Stoutie.

We nearly made it to the top! Tummy rumbling? In the fifth floor you can get a well deserved food pit spot. Whether you’re in for Irish food or just a casual bite, the two restaurants got you covered. 1837 Bar & Brasserie offers authentic Irish food using Guinness as an ingredient. Arthurts Bar is a more casual pick.

We finally made it! The sixth and seventh floor are reserved for the Gravity Bar! This rooftop bar on top of the Guinness Storehouse is stunning! Spot different locations of Dublin from up top and get your well earned pint of Guinness or your non-alcoholic drink of choice. Have a good time up there, relax, drink and just enjoy the 360-degree views over Dublin. If you went during weekdays you will find a table. We heard that during weekends the Gravity Bar gets quite busy and you probably won’t find a table.

And there you have it… the grand tour! Whether you linger for more rooftop relaxation or descend back to the streets of Dublin is all up to you.
